Kesagake is a man eater legend from Japan. Though he did not kill as much as Japanese Giant Hornet that in average kill 40 Japanese a year, Kesagake is probably the only man eater in the list that could force an entire village population to exodus. The story of Kesagake started in 1915 in the village of Sankebetsu Hokaido. Kesagake himself was a full grown 3 meters tall brown bear. He was a normal unknown and un named brown bear until farmers shot and injured him when he was visiting Sankebetsu corn field to take little snack without permission.

After kesagake recovered, in December 9th 1915, he returned to the same village to revenge. He did not breach a corn field anymore. This time, He breached an unfortunate Ota family house, killed Ota's little baby on site , dragged Ota Wife's to the forest, and killed her in the process.
After found her wife death, the Ota's and 30 men sought Kesagake to the forest to kill the bear. Unlucky, though they found the bear and the remain of Ota's wife body, these men only managed to wound the bear but not killed him.

Later time, the bear sought another revenge and returned to the village. This 2nd  time, The bear decided to swarmed Miyoke's house instead of Ota farm. Share same faith with the ota, the bear attacked most people in the Miyoke house.One pregnant mother and 2 kids lost their live in the house and leaving several wounded survivors to spread the terror to the rest of the villagers.

Out of fear, farmers decided to invite a famous bear hunter outside Sankebetsu to help them. After several attempt, The bear hunter finally answered the invitation and together with farmers group hunted kesagake in the forest. In December 14, The hunter managed to kill the hunter. found shot dead, Kesagake was measured 3 meters tall and weighing 380 kg.
After kesagake death, sankebetsu was no longer same. After wounded survivor found died or drowned in the river, villagers decided to abandon sankebetsu entirely and retitled the village as a Kesagake ghost town
