10 Masterpieces made by a Single hand

Simon rodia ,the tower maker, dedicated 33 years of her life time to erect this junk towers. It is located at the edge of LA. Watts tower is combination of steal, glass, bottles , various solid garbage, and thousand dollars bills taken from her own purse. Local government planned to demolish the tower because it is considered unsafe. the planned was undone because test stress said the tower is strong. the tower is limited for public visiting and need donations to keep it sturdy.

Throne of the 3rd heaven, The little mountain of blings is not piles of gold  dedicated to worship ancient god. It was a mini-realization of heaven according to James Hampton. The maker rest in peace by now and he was a mere janitor. He built this array for 14 years after he complete his cleaning job. Today, the art is exhibited in Smithsonian Gallery.


Blood tea and Red string is a stop motion movie directed by Christine Cegasvske. The movie is without a dialogue and the theme is freaky weird. it tells a story about a female cow rat hybrid vs bad white mice that stole her dolls.

The movie finished in 2005 and had earned positive thumbs from New York times and Variety



The toothpicks city is made by Scott weaver. for 35 years, he made the city single handedly. His toothpick city is not the largest in the world but indeed it strong enough to hold a rolling ball. Toothpick city is built with 100k toothpicks and already displayed in  San Fransisco since April 2013.


Romeo and Juliet Sealed with a kiss is the fruit of creativity of Phil Nibblelink, an ex Disney animator. He animated the old style cartoon from a home computer single handedly. The movie composed 112,000 frames and lots of critiques. However, all those critiques in the end grossing him $463,000.

Salvation Mountain is another decorative religious art on earth. This time is made by Leonard Knights.  It is located in Niland California, standing 3 stories high, 30 meters wide and standing here since 1985. First attempt to decorate salvation mountain was failed. Next attempt was success thanks to 100 thousand gallons of paint used to color the mountain. Salvation mountain now is shared ownership with public because Leonard unable to maintain the mountain financially single-handedly anymore.


Aba Defar churches are not a well decorative churches. However, He made churches carving it out of rock with pick and axes for years since 1959.

He said the power that guide him to carved churches was a divine inspiration dreams for 30 years. So far he made 4 churches in Ethiopia and each of them average 5x10 m decorated with 4 stone pillars inside.

Sita sings the blues bring the soul of Nina Paley an animator from New York city who underwent a severe divorce view years ago.  Her inspiration was a bad romance between Rama and Sita. She took 5  years to script, directing and animate the whole movie single-handedly. Sita sings the blues is a 82 minute cartoon movie and surprisingly it only came from a Nina's standard home computer.

The movie is controversial but the show must go on. Though Nina received countless copyright infringement fortunately on the other side she also earned a positive review from a Hollywood buzz Roger Ebert


Rock Garden of Chandigarh was build by a road inspector Nek Chand in 1958. Since that year, he kept continued the construction of rock garden for up to 18 years later single hand. He was using mere abandoned objects from masonry and garbage collected from local dump.

In 18 years, from trashes he collected, he made 12 acres unique garden filled with statues, buildings and walkways.

What he was doing was illegal. However, the demolition planned was banned by local people around rock garden. today, the rock garden remained untouched by government trucks. Today, estimated 5000 people visit rock garden
